The documentation hub for designing, taking, and scoring audiology simulations.
Theta is an audiology simulation and training platform. Instructors design lessons made of realistic clinical elements — audiometry, otoscopy, tympanometry, acoustic reflexes, speech testing — and learners work through them hands-on, just as they would with a real patient. Submissions are then scored and turned into detailed reports.
This documentation is organized around the way you actually use Theta.

New here?
Read Core concepts first — it explains the handful of ideas (organizations, courses, lessons, elements, submissions) that everything else builds on.
If you're an instructor
You build lessons in the Designer. Start with Building a lesson, then dig into the element you need: Audiometry, Otoscopy, Tympanometry, Acoustic Reflexes, Speech in Quiet, or Information. Every element page follows the same shape — Design → Settings → Testing → Scoring → Report — so once you've read one, you know how to read them all.
If you're a learner
Head to The submission flow to see how to open a lesson, work through each element, and submit. Then Running each element walks through the controls for every test type.
How elements work: the lifecycle
Every simulation element in Theta moves through the same four phases. Keeping this model in mind makes the rest of the docs click into place:

| Design | Instructor | Choose a case (or template), set the values the learner must discover, and pick what gets scored. |
| Submission | Learner | Encounter the element, perform the testing, and record results. |
| Scoring | Automatic | Submitted values are compared against the designed values. |
| Report | Automatic | Scored and report-only items are assembled into a PDF. |
