Daily, weekly & leaderboards
The competitive and self-paced practice surfaces inside a Theta space — Audiogram of the Day, the Weekly Refresher, leaderboards, progress and stats.
Alongside the courses you work through, a Theta space has a set of practice and game surfaces built for ongoing skill-keeping. These are where you come back day after day to stay sharp once you already know your way around the simulator.
This page covers everything on the practice side: the Audiogram of the Day, the Weekly Refresher, Learning Pathways, the Leaderboard, and the My Stats and Progress pages.
These surfaces live in the platform space — the public Theta home, not a classroom org your instructor set up. If you only see your course list and a Progress page, you're in a classroom space; the game surfaces below appear in the platform space.
How these differ from course lessons
A course lesson is authored by an instructor: the case is fixed, you get the attempts your instructor allows, and your submission is scored and kept as part of your record in that course. (If you're new to taking a lesson, start with the submission flow.)
The practice surfaces are different in a few important ways:

Everything you actually do inside a case — reading the audiogram, masking, recording thresholds — works exactly the same as in a course lesson. Only the wrapper around it changes.
Audiogram of the Day
The Audiogram of the Day (AOTD) is the headline daily challenge: one fresh, realistic audiogram case each day. You read it end to end and your performance is scored exam-style — accuracy combined with speed becomes your score for the day.
How to play
- Open Daily (the Audiogram of the Day hub) from the space.
- The hub shows your total points and your day streak at the top.
- Press Play today's audiogram to start. The case opens full-screen in the normal submission player.
- Work the audiogram as you would any lesson, then submit. Your score is banked automatically.
Today's banking case is one attempt per day. You can't retry it for a better score, so take your time — there's no clock pressure beyond the fact that speed counts toward your score. Once you've played, the hub shows "You've played today" and a countdown to the next case.
Once-per-day vs. practice
There's a single scored case per day — the one that banks points and counts on the leaderboard. A new case unlocks on a daily rollover (the hub shows a live countdown, e.g. "Next audiogram in 4h 12m 30s"). Come back after the rollover for a fresh case.
Streaks and the countdown
Playing on consecutive days builds a day streak (shown with a flame). Miss a day and the streak resets. The countdown on the hub tells you exactly how long until the next case is ready, so you know when to come back to keep a streak alive.
New to Theta? The Audiogram of the Day assumes you already know the audiometer. If the interface is unfamiliar, run the Intro to Theta tutorial first — the Daily hub links you straight to it. It only takes a few minutes.
Weekly Refresher
The Weekly Refresher (the Weekly tab) rotates through a curated set of skill cases — one featured case each week. Unlike the Audiogram of the Day, the weekly case is about mastery, not ranking: there's a star/badge mechanic and no leaderboard.
The hub lays out three cards:
- This week — the featured case, shown as the hero. Press Play this week to start it. Once you've played it, the hero also shows how many times you've taken it and your best score, and the button reads Play again.
- Last week — still playable, so you can catch up or replay it for a better star rating.
- Next week — a locked teaser showing what's coming, with the date it unlocks.
Each case carries a star rating (up to three stars) reflecting how well you've done on it, and the hub tracks a week streak for staying consistent.
Weekly cases are interleaved — they mix the skills you've been building rather than drilling one in isolation — and span different element types (audiogram, tympanometry, otoscopy) depending on the week's theme.
Learning Pathways
If the Weekly Refresher's one-case-a-week pace is too slow, Learning Pathways lets you work the same skill cases end-to-end at your own pace. It's free practice — replay anything, anytime.
Pathways are the first section of the Library tab (there's no separate Pathways tab). Below them, Browse all topics holds the rest of the practice shelf, grouped by category.
The cases are organized into four tracks:

Within a track the cases are arranged as a difficulty-ordered zig-zag path. A "You are here" marker sits on the first case you haven't played yet; that's your frontier. Playing a case — at any score — advances the frontier and unlocks the next one. Cases beyond your frontier stay locked until you reach them, but anything you've already played stays replayable.
Each case shows a three-star mastery mark, and the section tracks how many of the total cases you've mastered. The Weekly Refresher links here when you want focused, self-paced practice on a specific skill.
Each track is an ordinary course of 13 lessons, so a pathway case opens in the same player — with the same report — as anything else on the platform.
Leaderboard
The Leaderboard ranks players on the Audiogram of the Day. It's the only surface that's competitive — the Weekly and Pathways surfaces are personal.
There are two filters:
- Time period — toggle between Today, Month, Year, and
All-time.
- Today ranks everyone who played today's banking case, by score (accuracy × speed); each player's accuracy is shown.
- Month / Year / All-time rank by banked points over that range; the secondary line shows cases played, and all-time also shows day streaks.
- Scope — choose All Theta users or narrow to an org you belong to.
The top three get medals (🥇🥈🥉). Your own row is highlighted, and if you rank below the visible list, your rank is pinned at the bottom so you can always see where you stand. From the leaderboard you can jump straight to Play today's case.
Only the Audiogram of the Day feeds the leaderboard. Weekly Refresher and Learning Pathways don't affect your ranking.
My Stats
The My Stats page is your personal Audiogram of the Day dashboard — how you stack up against yourself over time. Until you've banked your first case it simply invites you to play; after that it shows:
- Headline tiles — total points, current streak, longest streak, cases played, average accuracy, and your all-time rank.
- Activity grid — a GitHub-style contribution heatmap of the last 26 weeks, shaded by your best accuracy each day. Hover a cell for that day's detail.
- Accuracy trend — a sparkline of your accuracy across recent cases, so you can see whether you're improving.
- Recent cases — your latest plays with date, accuracy band (green / amber / red) and points earned. Click any one to reopen that case.
From here you can jump to the full leaderboard.
Progress
Progress is the learner-facing course tracker — distinct from My Stats, which is about the daily game. (In a classroom org space, Progress is usually the main thing in your sidebar.)
It rolls up every course you're enrolled in and shows:
- An overall headline — a combined completion bar across all your courses, plus tiles for items complete, courses enrolled, and courses finished.
- A per-course breakdown — each course expands to reveal its items with their state: completed (with your score), available, locked, or not yet open. A Continue course / Review course link drops you back into the course.
If you're not enrolled in anything yet, Progress points you to browse courses first.
