Accessibility Statement

Theta's commitment to digital accessibility — the standards we work to, what the platform supports today, its known limitations, and how to request an accommodation.

Last reviewed: September 29, 2026

Theta (audiologysimulator.com), a product of Audiology Technology Solutions, LLC ("ATS", "we", "our", "us"), is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. Theta serves students, educators, clinicians, and institutional partners in higher education, and we want every one of them to be able to use it.

We support the objectives of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). This statement is meant to help colleges and universities evaluate Theta's accessibility, including for purchasing decisions.

1. Standards we work to

Theta is designed and developed toward:

  • WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA
  • The Revised Section 508 standards (36 CFR Part 1194)
  • ADA Title II effective-communication requirements

Theta is in beta, and a formal conformance review against these standards has not yet been completed. We are working toward substantial conformance with WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA ahead of Theta's full launch.

2. How we evaluate accessibility

Accessibility is checked as part of our ongoing development: new and changed screens are reviewed for keyboard operation and for use on phone- and tablet-sized screens, and a fuller evaluation with automated tools, screen readers, and keyboard-only testing is planned before Theta's full launch.

3. Accessibility features

Theta includes:

  • Keyboard operation of the simulation consoles — the audiometer, speech testing, speech in noise, acoustic reflexes, and the ABR can be driven entirely from the keyboard (see Keyboard shortcuts)
  • A responsive layout that works on phones, tablets, and desktops and supports browser zoom
  • Touch support for pointer interactions, such as placing audiogram markers and reordering items
  • Two ways to show patient responses at the audiometer, set per lesson by the instructor: a visual response light, or sound (SimuHear)
  • Text results and reports — score tables alongside the visual audiogram and charts

4. Higher education and Section 508 support

Theta is built to help postsecondary institutions meet their Section 504, Section 508, and ADA Title II obligations. Institutional customers are responsible for ensuring that their own configuration, lessons, uploaded materials, and any third-party content used within Theta are provided in an accessible manner.

5. Known limitations

Theta simulates clinical hearing tests, and some of what it simulates depends on the senses those tests are built around:

  • Audio. Speech and sound stimuli, and the SimuHear response mode, require hearing.
  • Visual clinical material. Otoscopy images, tympanograms, audiograms, and other charts are visual. Many have text equivalents in results and reports, but not all have a full text alternative yet.
  • Pointer-based plotting. Some interactions, such as placing markers directly on an audiogram, are designed for a mouse or touch; keyboard alternatives exist at the consoles but not yet for every plotting interaction.

We are working to reduce these limitations, and we welcome feedback on where they affect you. Where a limitation prevents a learner from completing required coursework, please contact us so we can work with you and your institution on a reasonable accommodation.

6. Third-party content and integrations

Some Theta functionality relies on third-party services, such as sign-in and payment pages. While ATS strives to work with vendors that prioritize accessibility, we cannot guarantee the accessibility of third-party content that is not under our direct control.

7. Feedback and accommodation requests

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of Theta. If you encounter an accessibility barrier or need to request an accommodation, please contact us. We will make reasonable efforts to respond promptly and to address your concern consistent with applicable law.

8. Formal accessibility documentation

A Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT®) Accessibility Conformance Report for Theta is in preparation. Contact us if you need accessibility documentation for a procurement, vendor review, or compliance process.
